Signal, Week 1 – Let’s Begin – 7/13/18

So, just to put it out there, I’m going to start these weekly posts without much of an introduction.  No “WhAt’S uP iNtErNeT, it’s YA BOI” or anything of the sort.

These weekly posts (I’m calling it ‘Signal’ for right now) have two real reasons behind them:

  1. To give some kind of update about progress on Iravelon, some background knowledge about Iravelon and its story/world/characters/etc, or info/updates on my other projects/ideas related to Iravelon.  Maybe from time to time I’ll include other stuff, but I’ll try to keep other types of posts like reviews or external stuff out of the ‘Signal’ type of weekly posts.
  2. To help me keep myself engaged with the work on Iravelon itself, and keep myself somewhat accountable for it.

This week was all about just getting started.  Also, it’s about thinking about the past and my not-so-good history of sharing, well anything, about what I’m working on.

No, I’m not going to be sharing everything – I want some aspects of Iravelon’s story and mechanics to be experienced rather than explained beforehand.

That said, there are things I can share – new environments, ideas, mechanics, story beats, characters, etc.  And it will be my goal with these posts to do some of that.

For now, I’ll leave you with this.

Next week I’m going to talk about combat in Iravelon, and how (through the use of some excellent scripting resources on the RPGVX forums) I’ve been able to use mechanics from one of my favorite lesser known RPG series to liven it up a bit.
